Secrets of Self-Starters

Dr. Julie Miller’s newest book, “Secrets of Self-Starters” is being released today.  For those of us who are fans of Dr. Miller’s work, the book will be a welcome addition to our professional development libraries.  For those of us fortunate enough to be profiled in this new book, it is an honor.

In Dr. Julie Miller’s new book, “Secrets of Self-Starters” she gives us an in-depth profile of fascinating people (I did mention I’m in the book, didn’t I?) we all wish we could meet.

This 270-page book features men and women of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicity and education.  Some have impacted their own communities in extraordinary ways, while others have changed the lives of people around the globe. These stories will inspire, motivate and empower.

My sister always says “You don’t know how much you don’t know” and that is certainly true.  I also believe the reverse is ALSO true; “You don’t know how much you DO know”.  Most of us take for granted what we know assuming everyone else knows it as well.  We don’t feel our actions are anything “special” – we think we are just like everyone else.  As a result, we are flattered to be included in the company of such incredible inspirations as a Presidential Citizens Medal recipient, an international artist, a professional football player and 40+ others!

Dr. Miller’s research has found successful people are, in fact,  more alike than not.  She has identified 9 key traits in successful self-starters – some you likely already possess, others you can develop!

“The good news is that we don’t need all nine to achieve our dreams,” she explained. “One or two well-developed traits are often enough—it’s really just a matter of taking the first step.”

“The only thing separating these successful self-starters from everyone else is that they took action. They got up, got going and got started—with incredible results.”        Dr. Julie Miller

The holidays will be here before you know it and this book would make a great gift for everyone on your list.
